Ecco a voi una breve introduzione del gruppo che avremo il piacere di ospitare Sabato 18 Novembre live sul palco del Trenta Formiche per la seconda data stagionale del Dance with the Devil!

I Black Sheep sono una formazione nata nel settembre del 2015, con un organico in evoluzione ma ormai già funzionante a pieno ritmo.
Le estrazioni musicali sono diversissime e su questo si incentra la forza del gruppo...Banda Bassotti, Klaxon, Shots in the Dark, Faya Gang, e Jazz allo stato puro; dall'incontro di questi percorsi  così diversi e da una naturale empatia nasce un gruppo di 6 elementi che approccia,  insieme per la prima volta, i ritmi in levare del Rock Steady, Early Reggae e Original Ska! Il risultato?! Venite a sentirli live il 18 Novembre al Trenta Formiche e capirete bene di cosa stiano parlando!!!

Here the last dj presentation for our Dance with the devil soul weekender in Rome on 8th & 9th December!

My name is Giulio and I am based in Soulful Pordenone, northeast Italy.

I have been into soul music for more than 20 years, started off as a young mod and still carrying on as an experienced mod.
I like all black music styles, from 50s blues to contemporary productions.

Together with my friends Bruno and Domenico, I run two yearly events in Pordenone which are well attended and are always good fun.
I am really looking forward to being back again at Dance With The Devil, proper party with proper hosts and up-for-it crowd, so much so that the last time i djed there somebody turned up with a baseball bat to show his appreciation.

I have been playing my favorite records regularly in Copenhagen for more than 10 years, and during these years, i have been invited to play outside of Denmark, places like Boiler Club Barcelona, Coolcat Club in Hamburg, Bassy, Das Hotel and Soul-Inn in Berlin, "Helsinki" in Zürich, Biel  Soul Weekender, Keep the Faith Weekender in France, Jukeboxjam and Bande A Part in London, Hip Shake in Marseille, Soulful Torino, Back To Beat in Bergen, Tequila Twist in Malmö, Say Yeah in Stockholm.

Also, booking djs at Copenhagen's preferred place mesteren&lærlingen and organising Club nights such as Double Barrelled Soul and the Copenhagen Soul Weekender.

Style wise i like to mix things up a bit, i often play everything from Northern Soul to R&b, Ska/Rocksteady, Jump Blues & Garage.

As many of my Soul mates, I set in my record journey by collecting 70s Powerpop/Mod/Punk and 60s Garage. Many moons ago I began dj-ing and organizing some wild parties in Berlin, 
since then I have been specializing in collecting Northern & Modern Soul. From my today's view - I love any kind of soulful music, to begin with 60s R&B/Soul up to soulful House as well as great current releases.
Four years ago we started promoting bigger events under the flag of Soul’d Up - Berlin, so twice a year we celebrate an Alldayer & Allnighter with an international dj line-up, up-coming one is on 17th/18th November incl. Friday Warm up.

I'm so looking forward to my first dj experience in beautiful Roma. My passion is to play across-the-board soulful tunes for your dancing pleasure !

Magic Cat at Dance with the Devil - Venerdì 8 Dicembre - Live at Trenta Formiche - Roma

Ecco a voi una breve presentazione da parte di Massimo Di Gianfrancesco del gruppo che avremo il piacere di ospitare live sul palco del Trenta Formiche per il primo dei due giorni in cui prenderemo possesso del nostro bunker romano preferito!

Massimo Di Gianfrancesco speaks about Magic Cat:

Sempre vissuto nell'amata/odiata Roma. Ho iniziato ad ascoltare psychedelia e 60's garage nella seconda metà degli anni 80 diventando presto un avido collezionista di vinili originali. Il mio primo gruppo si chiamava Head and the Hares con cui ho inciso due lp e qualche 45 per etichette USA/europee. Eravamo influenzati dai Love, gruppi garage minori (cd New England 60's sound) con sonorità più vicine al folk-rock. Dal 2000 al 2008 ho suonato con i Victorians che invece erano legati a sonorità Mod e Psych inglesi della fine degli anni 60 (Creation, Tomorrow, July, Skip Bifferty etc etc). Con i Victorians abbiamo suonato molto nel circuito mod internazionale (Uk, Spagna etc etc) il nostro primo LP (con distribuzione major) doveva uscire nel 2009 ma poi a causa di divisioni interne l'album venne ritirato dal mercato  e il gruppo si sciolse.

Sul finire del 2011 con Massimo Galati al basso (nell'ultima formazione Head and the Hares e Victorians) abbiamo deciso di formare i Magic Cat reclutando Francesco D'Onofrio chitarra solista e Bruno Mirabella alla batteria. Il nostro nuovo progetto musicale era legato soprattutto a combinare le più svariate influenze (60’s Psych,  Spacemen 3, 60’s Garage, VU, Brian j Massacre, Clinic e migliaia di altri) in un suono meno datato e senza tempo.

Poi abbiamo avuto una ragazza alla batteria Sara e aggiunto Andrea Lauri (ex Cosmonauti) alla chitarra ritmica e con loro abbiamo fatto qualche concerto in giro qui a Roma ( e fuori Roma come al Ciclamino Beat e Gambeat festival a Barcellona). Per vicissitudini varie e personali abbiamo avuto un black out di quasi un anno e nel frattempo abbiamo fatto passare Andrea Lauri alla  chitarra solista e aggiunto Fabrizio D’Auria all’organo invece alla batteria si è seduto Diego Filippi (della formazione originale degli Head and the Hares).

Con questa formazione abbiamo debuttato all’inizio del 2017 al Supreme Psychedelic Underground Party.

Il nostro primo album chiamato For Friends Only è andato molto bene abbiamo esaurito praticamente le copie e ricevuto notevoli recensioni sia in Italia che all’estero.

Nel frattempo abbiamo scritto molti pezzi nuovi con influenze più americane tra primo San Francisco psych sound  e garage psych spettrale e ipnotico che presenteremo al Dance with Devil e saranno inclusi nel nostro prossimo album.
