Here a little introduction to our guest dj for the first night of the new season of Dance with the Devil at Trenta Formiche on 13th October 2018 in co-organization with our friends of Work Your Soul night from Turin!!

My passion for obscure soul & blues 45s originated from my love of the 80s Mod Scene.
Living in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, meant that there was plenty of local Northern Soul events and record dealers to feed my hunger for lesser known 45s, including many oddball R&B/Mod/Instrumental tunes that the Soul Dealers didn't know what to do with!
I soon amassed a half decent collection of 45s, and started DJing and promoting many different events.
I also realised I couldn't afford to buy all the records I wanted, so started selling spares, or 45s I was no longer bothered about to feed my habit......this eventually evolved to me becoming a very busy record dealer!
I created and launched my website 'Rhythm-and-Soul45s.com' on July 4th 2014 and have seen it successfully grow at a remarkable rate....the hunger for rare soul and blues 45s is as insatiable as ever!
I'm trying to cut back on DJing and promoting so much nowadays, but currently co-promote The Federal R&B Club events, and I am a resident DJ for the mighty Pow Wow Club.
I have rarely DJed out of the UK, due to other commitments and my spare time usually taken with regularly traveling to the USA on record digging trips.....so, other than Barcelona a few years ago, this is only my second time DJing in Europe!
I look forward to playing some rare and wonderful 45s in Italy this October.

Ecco a voi i mitici Avvoltoi!
Il progetto musicale degli Avvoltoi nasce a Bologna nel 1985, evoluzione diretta dei Mister Mat & The Baby's Mind, quando Moreno Spirogi e Claudio Crozzoli decidono che sarebbe stato l’inizio di un inaspettato. Nel 1987 La Toast di Giulio Tedeschi pubblica il primo 7’’ con il titolo “Questa notte” contenente tre brani: l’inedita “Questa Notte” e le cover “Era un Beatnik” delle Teste dure e “Un uomo rispettabile”, la “Well respected” man dei Kinks. Il disco viene registrato con la collaborazione di Umberto Palazzo e lo stampo è dichiaratamente beat. La critica e il pubblico accolgono questo lavoro in maniera più che positiva e sull’onda del successo e della strabiliante carica dimostrata nei live, Nicola Vannini, talent-scout della Contempo propone un contratto al gruppo. Siamo nel 1988 quando esce il primo album targato Gli Avvoltoi. “Il nostro è solo un mondo Beat” arriva nei negozi e diventa, in poche settimane, un successo della musica indipendente italiana, raggiungendo le prime posizioni nelle classifiche di cinque importanti testate musicali italiane.
Il 1989 porta un cambio quasi radicale di formazione e l’anno successivo esce “Quando verrà il giorno” un disco ben diverso dagli esordi, più maturo e ricercato, con venature di psichedelia, folk e proto-prog. Iniziano gli anni ’90 e il mercato discografico impone nuove espressioni musicali. Gli Avvoltoi continuano la loro battaglia e così dal 1992 al 1994 escono “Sono un uomo” (7" Destination X), “Hush” (12" Vù Ballè Vù), “Quando vuoi scappare” (7" Destination X) e la raccolta con materiale inedito dal 1987 al 1993 “Ora sai perché” (LP Destination X). Anche la Sony Music, si interessa al gruppo ed inserisce il brano “Vorrei essere un vampiro” nella raccolta Dracula Compilation.
Dopo una pausa fisiologica gli anni di silenzio della band s’interrompono nel 1998 con la ripresa dei live e con le partecipazioni in varie compilation. Le caratteristiche poliedriche e istrioniche de Gli Avvoltoi, sempre molto attenti al contatto con il loro pubblico, sviluppano in questi anni performance sempre più mature, imponendo uno stile con uno sviluppo sempre più personale.
Nel 2005 inizia quella che possiamo definire la terza fase, il gruppo con caparbietà e con indispensabili cambi di organico pubblica due singoli: il primo, “Gianni / Non Voglio Pietà”, per l’etichetta Teen sound; il secondo, I Capelli Lunghi / E Voi, E Voi, E Voi per la Skipping musez, che instaura un’amicizia e una collaborazione artistica con il cantante italiano Gene Guglielmi. L’anno successivo esce “L’altro Dio”, che saluta il venticinque anni de combo, l’album è prodotto da Frank Nemola e vede la partecipazione di svariati ospiti/amici tra cui Cisco, Emidio Clementi, MCR, Velvet e il comico Giovanni Cacioppo,. Sul finire del 2010 esce l'ep “Manifesto Pop” che contiene quattro brani con riferimenti psichedelici e pre-prog, da cui il regista Pozzan seleziona “Illustrazione cantata da due generazioni oltremodo dissimili nel sognare” come colonna sonora del film I Giorni Di Ieri. L’anno successivo esce il singolo “Moreno è impazzito” per L’Ansaldi Rec. Nel 2012 la Sonic Press di Oderso Rubini pubblica il libro+cd "Storia Di Un Gruppo Ridicolo". Le cose vanno per il meglio, il gruppo riesce con una sempre rinomata energia a stupire e non mancano mai i colpi di scena. Nel 2013 Dome La Muerte (CCM, Not Moving) partecipa non senza lasciare il segno, alla storia degli Avvoltoi e nel giro di pochi mesi escono due album per la GoDown, “Live Al Sidro” e “Amagama”, l’album che decreta la totale rinascita e la svolta definitiva di questo incredibile gruppo.
Nel 2016 vede la luce il concept "Confessioni di un povero imbecille", lavoro basato sul romanzo di Gianluca Morozzi "Despero".

Here a little introduction from our friend Luigi Slim Fiore, one of our guest for next Dance with the Devil at Trenta Formiche on 13th & 14th April in Rome!
My musical journey started as a musician, as a bass player exactly, i was involved in the Indie Rock during the 90’s , then i discovered more music, Bossa nova, Funk, Rare Groove and everything changed.
During the last 15 years i have been djing and collecting in Italy,UK, Europe and Usa, promoting clubs, playing records for many different events, Swing Festivals, 50’ Rock n Roll Festivals and Clubs, Mod Soul R&b 60’s Clubs, Cumbia and Latin sound nights, and off course Funk and Rare Grooves, Disco and Italo Disco Clubs.
I ‘m a Music Lover and a Dj in the first place, no matter the genre or the “Scene”, The Groove, a solid Bassline or an heartbreaking melody, well, there you’ ll find me.
During this time i was lucky enough to Dj at Rhythm Riot (UK), Teen Scene, LadyLuck, Le Beat Bespoke (UK), Swiss Soul Weekender, Hip Shapin Baby (FR), Shakin All Over ( New York), BallRoom Bash and Upon My Soul ( Germany), Deep Cliff Soul Weekender ( Portugal ) and many more.

Here a little presentation from Callum Simpson, one of our guest for our Dance with the Devil closing party at Trenta Formiche on 13th and 14th April!
I’ve been collecting records and frequenting mod/soul clubs in the UK and Europe for the last 15 years…bloody hell, where did the time go! Although I collect records, I wouldn’t say I’m a collector, my first thought is about the dancefloor and the dancer’s reaction to the records, hopefully that comes across in my selections and how my sets flow.
I have been involved in promoting clubs and lucky enough to DJ at some of the biggest and best Mod, Soul and RnB clubs in the UK and Europe such as The Boiler Club, Laverone Weekender, NUTs, Euro Ye Ye, 100 Club and the of course the mighty Pow Wow.
This will be my first time in Rome and I am really looking forward to spinning some records at Dance with the Devil!

Sometimes they come back!!
For the second time we will be honored to host inside our club for the closing weekender of Dance with the devil at Trenta Formiche in Rome, Bill Kealy!
Was bitten by the record collecting bug at an early age and started djing at Scooter and Mod events in the late 80s playing mainly Mod Revival and 60s Mod stuff.
from there I delved a little further back and discovered the wonderful world of Rhythm & Blues....
I've promoted many clubs over the years and at the moment I run the 'For Dancers Only' nights in Dublin and I'm also a resident at The Federal R&B Club in Crewe.
I've been very lucky to get to play records in many beautiful places around the UK & Europe and I'm very much looking forward to coming back to play at Dance With The Devil, last time was just amazing!!

Here a little introduction to one of our guest djs for the Dance with the devil wild weekender of April at Trenta Formiche in Rome!!
We are really honored to introduce the mighty Gav Arno!!
I first became aware of the Mod scene in the early 80's and started calling myself a Mod in 1984! From then on I began a lifelong love affair with the music of the era. From RnB, Boogaloo, Funk and Soul to Ska, Garage, Beat and even a touch of Psych - some brilliant tunes in all genres. The more obscure the better for me, although it is definitely what's in the groove that counts!
I've DJ'd quite a few places over the years and always get a buzz from playing new tunes (new to me that is!).
I tend not to rely on the heavy hitters so hopefully you might hear a few tunes that you don't hear much elsewhere.
Really looking forward to Dance with the Devil!!
